My Immigration Services

Other Dependent Relative Applications

What does this service cover?

Other dependent relative applications, or family visas, are applicable for various situations. The applications are open to those who have a family member settled in the UK with either British citizenship or previously granted an indefinite leave to remain.

This form of visa application is one of the most expensive, costing £2404 per person that is applying. We, therefore, understand just how important it is that your application is correct on your first application. If you are missing information or have not applied for the correct type of visa, it can be a very costly mistake.

There are multiple different dependents covered under this form of visa application which are:

  • Apply as a partner (Family Visa or as a Dependant on a Work Visa)
  • Apply as a parent (Family Visa)
  • Apply as a child (Family Visa or as a Dependant on a Work Visa)

The team at My Immigration Services will be able to offer you solid advice that is legally correct in accordance with the Immigration Advice Authority (IAA). We can tell you which form of visa is relevant to your own situation and  help you create a submission plan that works for your own situation.

What are the requirements for applying for a visitor visa?

The type of visa that you choose to apply for will bring with it different requirements so please see the complete list below. Your advisor will also be able to provide insights into any additional information that may be required to strengthen your application. The one factor that remains the same for each is the need to have a link to an individual who is based full time in the UK.

  • Apply as a partner (Family Visa or as a Dependant on a Work Visa)

This type of application will differ based on whether you choose the two-, five-, or ten-year route, which is determined by factors to do with your relationship. Each route, which our team has extensive knowledge of, will require different forms of documentation to be submitted and subject to other processing lead times.

You should also be aware that the five- and two-year routes also have various financial targets that must be met for an application to be successful.

Our citizenship services are also relevant as anyone aged between 18-64 will also need to both pass the Life in the UK test and also meet English standard language requirements.

  • Apply as a parent (Family Visa)

This form of visa requires the associated child to either be settled in the UK as a citizen or with indefinite leave to remain or if they are in the process of applying. Only available for either sole parents or if the responsibility is shared with someone who is allowed to live permanently in the UK, there are also strict documentation requirements which we can guide you with.

  • Apply as a child (Family Visa or as a Dependant on a Work Visa)

If you are an adult who has secured a family or work visa, then a child dependency visa must be approved before coming to the UK. This is usually a straightforward process if all other visas are successfully approved but managing multiple applications at once can be complex. That is why we are on hand to manage all your applications, as we can maintain a clear view of the current status, making any changes if requested.

Those who are over the age of eighteen can also apply if they:

  • are or will be living with legal parents
  • will be supported and accommodated adequately without using public funds
  • are not married, in a civil partnership or living an independent life
